Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Rochester is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This is one of my favorite places. If you like spice, you've got to try the volcano beef. Hot and spicy with nicely sliced vegetables and a generous portion of beef. It's perfect and I can't stop eating it. The sesame chicken is also good - sweet and crispy, not overly breaded or sugary. Dumplings are lighter fare than most places but that's a good thing because you aren't filling up on fried dough. Lastly I recommend the iced tea which is perfectly sweet (but not too much) and creamy. It reminds me of a more "serious" version of a pumpkin drink (but not the junky kind from Starbucks). This place seems popular for take out with most of the seating usually unoccupied, but it's in a really cool area and you should go sit down there and eat if you can.

Shui delivered everything except Thai. We kept our expectations modest, sticking to the safest items on the menu β satay chicken and vegetable dumplings β figuring the simpler the dish, the less room for error. We were wrong. The dumplings were unmistakably store-bought, and if there exists a register below bland, these occupied it comfortably. No seasoning, no character, nothing to suggest they were prepared with any intention beyond filling a bowl. The satay chicken fared no better. Having had the dish done well elsewhere, the contrast was stark β flat, flavorless, and missing everything that makes satay worth ordering. This isn't even about heat or spice tolerance; Rochester diners are perfectly capable of handling bold food. The issue is that this dish betrayed the very culinary tradition it claims to represent. A cuisine as vibrant and layered as Thai deserves more than this. Shui is wearing the label without doing the work.

We wanted to try some thai food during our visit to Rochester and stopped by Shui Asian fusion. The place was beautifully decorated. The place wasn't too crowded, so our food came out pretty fast. The server, though, we felt, was very distracted. She wrote down our orders on her note book, yet brought us the wrong order twice! She did apologize, but it felt awkward as she wasn't too busy to be that distracted. Anyway, the food was great. At first, we tried the tomyum soup. The server forgot to give us the hotsauce tray. We didn't enjoy the soup as much. The level of spice wasn't enough for us, so we asked to make the rest of our order spicier. And to our surprise we got it! It was just perfect! The Padthai was our favorite! We also loved the chocken satay and the fried calamari that we had ordered for our appetizer. For dessert, we tried their mango sticky rice. It wasn't bad, but I've had better. Overall, it was great food, but service could probably be better.

I rarely give 5 stars but I felt like due to the experience and the food it was worth rounding up. I ordered seafood soup and dumplings and I was at awe. The food was delicious and my companion agreed. She ordered a different soup but also ordered dumplings and she finished her meal before I. Everything is reasonably priced and the customer service was satisfactory as well. Will definitely be returning to this cozy establishment.

Surprised and impressed by this place! We were seated right away (on a Saturday night) and opted for the patio. It was a lovely evening and we enjoyed the patio lights of the adjacent restaurants and the fresh air. We ordered too much food but it was all really good. The summer rolls appetizer was simple with a delicious dipping sauce. We ordered pineapple fried rice to share which tasted really fresh and not greasy or oily. My entree was a mango tofu dish which was very flavorful, on the sweet side, and absolutely yummy with jasmine rice. The boys very much enjoyed their chicken dishes; curry and spicy basil. For 4 dishes, 2 appetizers, and 2 fancy drinks our bill was not bad at all. Nice experience and will come back.
